Brian van Vliet
brian@offthegoalpost.com

Brian van Vliet was born in November of 1965 in Toronto Ontario.  After living briefly in both France and Holland he returned to Canada just in time to watch the Boston Bruins finish their four game sweep over Doug Favell and the rest of the Toronto Maple Leafs.  The year was 1974.  It was at that point when his love affair with NHL hockey started.   In those days Toronto  had another pro hockey team called the Toros that also played at Maple Leaf Gardens.  Brian got to see many great players such as Paul Henderson, Frank Mahovolich, Gordie Howe et al...

In 1991, he took up the sport of bodybuilding.  He performed in 7 competitions in a two year span finishing up at the 1993 Canadian Bodybuilding Championships in Montreal.

His wife Anna Marie and their three children eventually moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where we still reside today.  A booming economy allowed them to open a now very successful computer consulting firm called DocuMagic_Inc. In November of 1996, their fourth child arrived.

Finally, late in the year 2000 Brian took a voice training course from Dan Wilmott an international award winning voice talent and actor.

He opened his website offthegoalpost.com but just couldn't find the time to maintain it.  He closed it in 2002.  People continued emailing Brian asking when he was going to start it up again.

In 2007, Brian was fortunate to align himself with a web savvy partner named Chris Gibbs.  Chris has an extensive TV background and together they are bringing the site back, bigger and better.

So sit back and enjoy the new era of Off The Goalpost.

Chris

Chris Gibbs was born in June of 1973 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At a very young age he moved to Regina, and then on to Calgary since 1976. Chris continues to live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with his wife Jennifer and his 2 children.

Growing up, the love for the Calgary Flames and the rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary kept Chris involved in hockey and sports in general. Those days saw the likes of Wayne Gretzky streaking down the wing, Steve Smith scoring on his own net, and Tim Hunter and Dave Semenko pumelling the living bejeevers out of each other.

After spending more than 5 years working at the Saddledome, Chris can say he has seen every Calgary Flames home game in 1989 when they won the Stanley Cup.

Chris started in the Broadcasting industry in 1992 and has continued his career on the technical side of the television industry since then. He has worked with 3 major television networks and is continuing to forward his career.

In 2002 Chris decided his hobby of web designing needed to take a move forward at which time he went back to school to study Graphics and Web Design. He has been designing websites as a side job while continuing to work in television.

In 2007, Chris met the Ultimate Armchair Sportsfan and became partners with Brian van Vliet. Brian's sports knowledge and writing skills is second to none.
